Dovecote Building Project

This is just to let you know that at last the Dovecote Building Project is due to start on Monday 16h June 2025.  The work involves bringing mains water to Unit 4 (by the main gate), dividing and converting that Unit into a simple kitchen area, disabled W.C. and a small storage area at the rear of the Unit.  This also involves connecting into the sewerage system.  Access to the Dovecote site will have to be limited for Health & Safety reasons, but it will vary depending on which particular works are being carried out.  It may be possible for people at some times to access the riverside from the gate at the top of the road opposite the Village Hall entrance.  Notices will be put up to indicate what is open and what is closed.

Please kindly observe the Notices and do not allow children to gain access to the riverside over the Cotswold stone walls which are not strong enough to withstand climbing and are very expensive to mend!

Unfortunately the Highways Authority are insisting on a complete road closure when we connect to the mains water so this will involve the inconvenience of diversions at some point – hopefully for a very short period.  I hope that we will be given Notice of this, in which case we will pass the information on.

It is unfortunate that the work could not be done during the winter months but liaising with public bodies and utilities has been complicated and slow.  We hope that the alterations will prove a long-term improvement to the site so far as community use is concerned and that it will be worth the short-term inconveniences for the long-term gain.
