In 2022 a couple of very successful fund raisers were run down at the Dovecote.

In July 2022 we ran:

The Grand Platinum Jubilee Duck Race – a well known and favourite event.

Despite the ferociously hot weather, which understandably deterred quite a few of our usual attendees, this day was very enjoyable with good participation by picnickers under the shade of some very welcome gazebos and marquees. The Grand Platinum Jubilee Duck Race duly took place at 2 p.m. – all ducks having been sponsored in advance of the day. The lucky winner – a duck named ‘LORI’ was owned and sponsored by Lauren Joynes and ‘GUY’ sponsored by Sarah Foulkes came a sporting second.
The second race, held in memory of Arthur Mitchell at 2.45 was won by ‘NESS’ which was sponsored by Sarah Whitticase, In second place was ‘EMMA’ sponsored by Annabel and Georgie Hanks. The third race, the Windrush Rapids Duck Race, was won by Lois Vincent’s duck ‘LOIS’ sponsored for the race by Richard Tilbrook, pipping ‘DAN’ sponsored by a passing tourist by the name of Carol into second place.

In August 2022 we hosted:

Rain or Shine Theatre performance

Once again The Rain or Shine Theatre Company returned to Naunton to the Dovecote to perform ‘The Recruiting Officer’ which was well attended. As always, watching the logistics of this small Theatre group multi-tasking between changing scenery, clothing and persona is almost as entertaining as the play.

Donations

£925, the proceeds of the first race were, as advertised, sent to G.A.R.A.S., a Gloucester charity who help refugees – our donation along with other village donations, was earmarked to help Ukranian refugees living locally. The proceeds of the other two races and the Bar (£593.97) were sent to the North Cotswold Food Bank together with a further £106.00 being the proceeds of the bar at the Rain or Shine Theatre performance on 28th August 2022.
